News

Some of you have asked about the health issues. Well, I was officially declared healed of the pneumonia (yes, cultures confirmed it was indeed pneumonia) at the end of December, 2024.

And a few weeks ago, I was finally cleared to have my surgery to deal with my gastroparesis. The laproscopic surgery will take place on March 7, 2025. While this is a major surgery, I will be up and moving within a day – and should continue to move to heal faster.

I will take it easy for a while, of course, which is why I’ve been working ahead of schedule, as not to interupt any planned release dates. However, depending on the aftermath, there may be a slight disruption in the release of the New Amsterdam episodes.

The first episode of New Amsterdam “The Perfect Island” will premiere on YouTube March 6, 2025. The second episode will launch 2-4 weeks after this, depending on the aftermath of my surgery.

Shorter Content?

“The Ten Lasting Effects of the Eighty Years’ War” video went live a month ago, and did really well at first, and then flatlined. I did get a lot of new subscribers from it, which was one of the reasons I made it. However, it didn’t bring out a lot of love for the Eighty Years’ War series, which was another reason for me to release this type of content.

I will continue to experiment with shorter content to draw eyeballs to my channel, and create other listicle videos that will – hopefully – draw wider attention to my other series.

For instance, “10 famous VOC shipwrecks” to promote the Batavia series, and “10 Ways the Dutch Influenced the USA” to promote the New Amsterdam Series. All coming in the Fall 2025.

Podcast

The first two episodes of the re-recorded “The Batavia” series on Spotify, Apple Podcast and other places have been uploaded, with 2 more episodes to go!

The “Eighty Years’ War” series (with the original narration) launches on Spotify and everywhere on March 16, 2025 with the first three episodes, the one episode weekly after that.

Schedule for upcoming videos

  • On March 6, 2025, 18:00 CET, the premiere episode of “New Amsterdam.”
  • The series about the shipwrecked British Man-of-War “The Wager”, August, 2025.
  • A Halloween Horror special about “Sawney Bean”, end of October, 2025.
