    My biggest "what if" at the moment is: What if King Felipe II of Spain had actually shown up in Brussels as planned in 1568 and called the Prince of Orange before him to answer for the rebellion in the Netherlands?

    13 November 1002 Æthelred the Unready orders the St Brice's Day Massacre, the murder of all Danes in England, in response to the perceived ongoing Viking threat. The backlash was ultimately Cnut's conquest of Æthelred's kingdom.
